Public Charging on I-85 (Montgomery ↔ Atlanta)
I-85 offers multiple DC fast-charging options near Auburn–Opelika and along the corridor into Georgia. For the shortest total trip time, charge faster but not fuller: arrive low, leave around 70–80%, and favor higher-power sites when available. Keep idle-fee timers in mind and pre-condition the battery before arrival for the best speeds.
- Stop selection: Prefer sites with 150–350 kW and multiple stalls; check live availability in network apps.
- Connector types: Most public DC fast chargers use CCS. Tesla Superchargers use NACS ports.
- Cadillac access to Superchargers: Eligible Cadillac EVs can use select Tesla Superchargers via a GM-approved NACS DC adapter and the myCadillac app. Availability varies by site. See References.
Charging power tapers as you approach a higher state of charge; shorter, more frequent stops can be faster overall.
